Live Music – Michael Whipple

I’ve been composing and performing for over 30 years, beginning in the Long Beach, Laguna Beach and Santa Barbara, CA, areas, and, since 2002, here in the Rogue Valley. After stints with several local bands, including Heart And Soul, Hot Gossip, Salsa Brava, and The Brian Swan Band.
I perform live on piano and alto flute and sing, along with studio recordings of my own acoustic drumming, percussion, and sampled stand-up bass work. It’s an organic, swinging piano trio sound.
Influenced by Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett, among many others, the sound features elements of late 60’s-early 70’s groove-jazz and modern smooth while staying melodic and accessible. Rounding things out are some classic rock and pop numbers as well; tunes by the Morrisons–Van and Jim–Steely Dan, Paul McCartney, Procol Harum and others.
