Live Music – Dan Fellman Gypsy Trio

Dan Fellman lives in Ashland and plays a wide range of jazz styles, including American jazz standards, Latin jazz, Flamenco fusion, and gypsy jazz: the music of Django Reinhart and the “Hot Club of France” of the 1930’s and 1940’s. Dan has played with a number of local bands and as a duo with Grant Ruiz, Ed Dunsavage, and Paul Turnipseed. The current duo with Ed Dunsavage focuses on gypsy jazz, swing, and Latin jazz.

Dennis Freese is a multi-reed and flute instrumentalist, a singer, composer, and ethnomusicologist. He’s performed with many well known World Beat musicians from West Africa, Central and South America, Western Europe, and Asia.

He’s currently recording his six album (his third album of original music), and works regularly as a session musician playing many types of music on various winds. He has also performed in many theatre settings including (locally): The Camelot, The Cabaret, and in multiple OSF productions, as well as performing as a soloist at a number of senior home venues, giving presentations about the lives and music of the composing greats of the American Songbook (Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, The Gershwins, etc). Dennis is also a school volunteer and private music instructor.

Mark Hamersly was a south bay area (CA) professional bassist and guitarist for 20 years, before moving to the Rogue Valley in 2014. Mark plays bass with Alan Berman, Dave Scoggin, Dal carver, Ben Gault, the Southern Oregon Jazz Orchestra, the Esquire Band (in Klammath Falls). Mark is also a great guitar player, and plays on guitar with Ben Gault’s Bear Creek Jazztet.
