Bil Leonhart and Priscilla Quinby combine an inspired improvisational jazz guitar with a pure, steady vocal passion in a way that captivates and touches the hearts of their audiences.
Bil’s seven string guitar fills the room so well that listeners have been known to crane their necks looking for a bass player. The eldest member of the well-known Leonhart jazz family, Bil has appeared as a soloist and with others at venues all over the U.S. including San Francisco area’s jazz mecca, Yoshi’s, and has held down lengthy solo engagements at the Hyatt Regency and St. Francis Hotels there. In New York, he has played at The Blue Note, Le Madeleine Restaurant, and the Blue Water Grill and is currently working seasonally at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and at the Oregon Cabaret Theater. Bil has been featured with Charlie Byrd in an article on fingerstyle soloists in Downbeat Magazine.
Bil’s remarkable collaboration with Priscilla Quinby, both live and on CD, results in a truly shared spotlight with both vocalist and accompanist creating a rich tapestry of song. Priscilla has been featured New York City and at the prestigious National Arts Club there. Priscilla has been featured in musical and theatrical productions across the U.S. at venues including San Diego’s Old Globe Theater and the Grant Grill, Miami’s Coconut Grove Theater and at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She has developed a unique vocal style from her classical training and her love of, and experience with, jazz, folk, and the soul music of her native Philadelphia. She feels both led and followed by Bil Leonhart’s accompaniments and together they evolve constantly into this inspiring and elegant musical offering to the world. Their CD “Together” is the first attempt to capture some of this magic.
