Melissa Ghiglieri
I was born and raised in the Rogue Valley and am currently an art student at Southern Oregon University. After spending three and a half years in pre-medical studies, I decided to turn my passion for art into a career and switched to an art degree. My main mediums are oil painting and pen with watercolor. Over the years I have displayed my work in a number of places including St. Olaf College, California Baptist University, Grants Pass Historical Society, Rogue River Library, and various small shops in Medford and Jacksonville.
Most recently I have been working on a series of horses. This series includes large oil paintings as well as smaller watercolor and pen pieces. I am exploring form and motion, and ways to best portray the energy and beauty of the horse. My smaller sketches are studies on the form, which I then translate into larger oil paintings. My style for this subject is continually evolving as I discover different techniques to portray these amazing animals.
